Introduction to the Ottorino Respighi Publications
First Printed Editions!
In 2008, the family descendants and leading archive curator of Ottorino Respighi entrusted composer/conductor Salvatore Di Vittorio with the task of editing, transcribing, orchestrating and completing (as needed) the early works of Ottorino Respighi for publication - in their first printed editions, as well as premieres and recordings with the Chamber Orchestra of New York and other orchestras worldwide. As part of the commission, Di Vittorio was invited to complete Respighi’s rediscovered first Violin Concerto (in A Major), and other unfinished works.
The first printed editions of these early Respighi works below have been published by Edizioni Panastudio (Gruppo Editorialie Panastudio) in Italy (reg. SIAE).
Scores in the Ottorino Respighi Publications series are listed in Orchestral Music: A Handbook by David Daniels - classic repertoire reference work used by conductors, orchestras, musicians, and musicologists throughout the world. Available in hard copy and online by Scarecrow Press.
Ottorino Respighi
During January of 2011, Di Vittorio visited his publisher in Palermo - Francesco Panasci of Gruppo Editoriale Panastudio, who also hosts one of the most followed TV news shows in Sicily called "La Tana Del Lupo" (The Wolf's Den). Panasci surprised Di Vittorio with an improvised interview, a discussion on the recently published Respighi editions.
