VIOLIN UNA TONE

Una Tone was born in Riga, Latvia. Her father a ballet dancer and her mother a concert pianist and professor in Latvia Academy of Music, it came naturally to her to begin specialized music studies at the age of four. The next 14 years brought a lot of success. She achieved numerous victories in many regional and national competitions, developed her solo career and gained international experience as a chamber musician. Unusual for the period of "the iron curtain" of the USSR, she toured abroad extensively.

After graduation, she was offered a four year full scholarship at Stetson University, Florida. Her new responsibilities included being concertmaster of the Stetson Symphony Orchestra, Stetson Chamber Orchestra and Stetson String Quartet. During that time Una also performed with Stetson Symphony Orchestra as a soloist. She won many of the university's competitions and graduated with the Music Performance degree and Business Administration degree. During her time at Stetson University, Una also participated in the prestigious Aspen Music Festival on full scholarship where she studied with Dr. Ayako Yonetani and Ms. Dorothy DeLay. 

Una now lives in New York City with her husband and works as a freelance musician. Her engagements include Broadway shows, recordings, jingles, movie scores and appearances on various TV shows such as David Letterman, The Today's Show, Conan O'Brian, Martha Stewart Show, Fashion Rock. Una has performed with many distinguished artists in both pop music ( Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Andrea Boccelli, Harry Connick Jr., Rita Moreno, Savion Glover,Bono etc.) and classical music (Itzak Perlman, Joshua Bell, James Levine, James Conlon etc.). In addition she plays with ensembles as diverse as NY Pops, Opera
Orchestra of NY, Key West Symphony,  NY Virtuosi, American Ballet Theater orchestra in venues such as Carnegie Hall and Metropolitan Opera House.

Currently Una is playing another Mel Brook's Broadway show "Young Frankenstein".
