


MEET THE MUSICIANS
FRENCH HORN RACHEL DREHMANN
Rachel Drehmann is an active New York City freelance horn player.
She has performed with many groups including the Northeast Pennsylvania Philharmonic, principal horn with the National Symphony of the Dominican Republic, American Opera Projects, Lion King and Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, Tribeca Film Festival, Kanye West, and a former member of Ikarus Chamber Players. Drehmann has also recorded with groups such as A Far Cry, Rob Mosher Storytime, Purchase Opera, as well as on many albums and soundtracks. As a former member of the indie band 'A Whisper in the Noise,' Rachel released three albums and toured the US, Iceland and the UK, including the UK's 2004 'All Tomorrow’s Parties' Festival. The band is also featured on the soundtrack of M. Night Shyamalan's 'Lady in the Water.'
With a passion for performing new music, Rachel works to commission new works including horn. In April 2008, with the Sabine Players, Rachel premiered a piece by Derek Muro that will be recorded this spring. Also in 2008, Rachel was awarded a grant from the International Horn Society’s Meir Rimon Commissioning Fund to commission a piece from John Clark, which will be premiered this spring.
Rachel holds a Bachelor of Music in horn performance from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Music in classical horn from the Manhattan School of Music and her teachers include Wayne Lu, Dr. Charles Kavalovski, Jerome Ashby and John Clark.
