CONTRABASS CHRIS FINET

Growing up in Phoenix, Arizona, Chris Finet began studying electric bass at an early age and eventually found his way to the double bass at age 16. With growing proficiency in playing jazz, Chris was able to work professionally in and around the Phoenix area before beginning studies at Northern Arizona University with bassist Joel DiBartolo. While completing his undergraduate studies he was fortunate to perform with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra as well as known jazz musicians such as Doc Severinson, Ernie Watts, and John Tchicai.

Upon moving to New York in 2006, Chris began his Masters degree at the Manhattan School of Music studying primarily with Orin O’Brien. Since then he has had the opportunity to study with renowned bassists Tim Cobb, Jeremy McCoy, and David Grossman. An active jazz musician as well as orchestral player, Chris has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer Hall, and Trinity Cathedral with jazz performances at the Blue Note, Smoke, and Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Having completed his Masters degree in May of 2008, Chris now enjoys an active career as a freelance musician and teacher in the NYC area. His orchestral work includes the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Allentown Symphony Orchestra, Norwalk Symphony, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas. Chris has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of New York since May of 2008.
